Resolute Racing's John Stewart extended his fast-growing empire into Europe with the acquisition of recent King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes (G1) winner Goliath.

According to Thoroughbred Daily News Europe, Stewart completed a deal to purchase a 75% interest in Goliath with the gelding's breeder and owner, Gestut Schlenderhan's Baron Philip von Ullmann.

The German-bred Goliath became a major player for such major fall prizes as the Champion Stakes (G1) and the Breeders' Cup Turf (G1T) with his decisive 2 1/4-length victory over a top field in the King George VI and Elizabeth Stakes. He had previously captured the Prix d'Hedouville (G3) at ParisLongchamp and finished second in the Hardwicke Stakes (G2) at Royal Ascot.

With his win in the July 27 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes, a Breeders' Cup Challenge Series event, Goliath earned an all-expenses-paid berth to the Nov. 2 $5 million Breeders' Cup Turf at Del Mar.

Goliath was ranked second behind Dubai World Cup (G1) hero Laurel River  in the most recently published Longines World's Best Racehorses rankings and given a global rating of 125. The 4-year-old son of Adlerflug  has made all nine of his career starts for French trainer Francis-Henri Graffard, winning two of his five starts this year. He has accumulated $1,108,522 in earnings.

Goliath is just the latest foreign-bred acquisition made by Resolute Racing in 2024. Chief among Stewart's international purchases in the past year include 2023 South African Horse of the Year Princess Calla  and group 1-placed Australian race filly Tutta La Vita.
